The Mopho SE from Dave Smith Instruments is a monophonic subtractive synthesizer with a 100% analog signal path. The sound engine is controlled using a 44-key semi-weighted velocity sensitive keyboard that responds to aftertouch, along with full size modulation and pitch wheels. The synthesizer’s single voice is based around two analog oscillators, two sub octave generators, selectable 2- or 4-pole Curtis low-pass filter, three 5-stage envelope generators, four LFOs, a re-latchable arpeggiator, and a 16 x 4 step sequencer.
Choose from twenty modulation sources with close to fifty destinations. Every parameter is fully programmable and editable from the front panel. The controls are logically laid out, lending themselves to quick access. External audio sources can be processed through the unit’s synthesizer engine. Using its Poly Chain port allows the synthesizer to be connected to the Mopho, Tetra, and Prophet ’08, increasing the voice count. Up to three Tetras can be chained with the Mopho SE to create a thirteen voice analog synthesizer.
